Financial Controller – Consumer Credit (South Africa)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Financial Controller to join our South African consumer‑credit business. The role will be central to financial reporting, reconciliations and the management of collections, debtors and arrears.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual statements.
• Manage DebiCheck collections, debtor and arrears monitoring, and debt‑collection handovers.
• Calculate commission structures and handover balances for collection teams.
• Maintain and improve financial controls across the credit‑provider operation.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations and Collections departments.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• Qualified accountant or CIMA‑registered professional/candidate.
• 3–8 years of relevant financial or accounting experience, preferably in credit, lending, collections or consumer finance.
• Advanced experience with DebiCheck and reconciliation processes.
• Knowledge of debt‑collection and debt‑review procedures.
• Experience calculating handover balances and collection‑based commissions.
• Practical experience with Excalibur software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
