Financial Business Partner – South Africa

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Business Partner to act as the strategic finance liaison for our South African and Southern African operations. The role bridges headquarters strategy with local execution, safeguarding Chinese shareholder interests while driving profitability, compliance and value creation.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Country Manager, Sales, Operations and Project Leads to optimise profitability, cash flow and ROI.
• Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews, analysing P&L, revenue trends, cost structures and KPI performance.
• Develop rolling forecasts (12‑18 months) and annual budgets aligned with group targets.
• Own full‑cycle financial management of large‑scale projects (CAPEX > $50M), including feasibility studies, NPV/IRR modelling, risk assessment, budget tracking and post‑project reviews.
• Serve as Finance Controller for subsidiaries/JVs, ensuring IFRS/local GAAP reporting, tax filings and transfer‑pricing documentation.
• Identify and mitigate financial, operational and compliance risks, including B‑BBEE, anti‑bribery and sanctions.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with HR, Legal, Treasury and HQ Finance on headcount planning, contract structuring, cash pooling and consolidation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics (Master’s/MBA preferred).
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA or CFA.
• 5+ years of experience in corporate finance, FP&A or project finance.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP, tax regimes and transfer pricing.
