Financial Accountant / Senior Finance Officer

About the role

We are a growing telecommunications group operating an ISP and a wholesale fibre network business. As we scale, we need a hands‑on Financial Accountant who will own and continuously improve our finance function across both divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the creditors function, including capture, verification, reconciliation and supplier payments.
• Document and later hand over creditors processes to a Junior Creditors Clerk you will recruit and train.
• Oversee the complete finance function for both businesses: debtors, creditors, billing, banking, reconciliations and month‑end close.
• Manage recurring billing runs, debit orders and revenue assurance to ensure accurate invoicing.
• Handle debtor management, credit checks for new clients and escalation of overdue accounts.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash‑flow forecasts and weekly cash‑flow data for capital deployment.
• Perform daily/weekly bank reconciliations and resolve complex balance‑sheet items.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, approval workflows and finance documentation.
• Work with the outsourced audit firm on tax, VAT reporting and year‑end audit files.
• Recruit, train and manage junior finance staff as the team expands.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, meticulous professional with strong leadership potential.
• Experience managing full finance cycles in a telecom or similar environment.
• Ability to train and supervise junior staff.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to regulatory compliance.
