Finance Assistant / Junior Accountant – Property Industry

About the role

Our client, a UK‑based property company, is seeking a reliable Finance Assistant / Junior Accountant to work remotely. The role bridges finance assistance and junior accounting, allowing the right candidate to shape duties around their strengths while supporting property‑related financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Bookkeeping and transaction processing, including purchase invoices, supplier statements and sales invoices.
• Bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and processing expense claims.
• Property‑specific finance admin such as rent receipt processing, landlord/tenant statement reconciliation, service‑charge and deposit administration.
• Liaising with letting agents and property managers on financial queries and assisting with arrears tracking.
• Accounts payable/receivable tasks: chasing invoices, preparing supplier payment runs and handling queries.
• Month‑end support: journals, accruals, basic management reports and budget‑vs‑actual tracking.
• Assisting with VAT return preparation where UK VAT exposure exists.
• Maintaining digital filing, updating spreadsheets and accounting software, and providing ad‑hoc finance administration support.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the property sector (lettings, estate agency, property management or real‑estate finance).
• Previous work for a UK‑based company with familiarity of UK business practices.
• High level of accuracy and strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets proficiency.
• Experience with at least one accounting package such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
