Experienced Theatre Registered Nurse

About the role

A full-time theatre registered nurse position within a hospital group in Potchefstroom. The nurse provides safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and is responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care, including assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care according to the scope of practice and take full responsibility for it
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Attend shift handover reports at the start of each shift
• Work flexible shifts and be able to cope with stressful conditions
• Maintain accurate records that meet legal requirements
• Keep a therapeutic and safe environment by following health and safety standards and infection prevention and control policy
• Control and manage stock properly, charging and crediting it correctly
• Maintain good relationships with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• At least 2 years of experience scrubbing in a theatre environment for all major disciplines
• Qualification in Operating Room Science is an advantage
• Flexible with working hours and shifts
• Customer-focused, taking full responsibility for own work output
