About the role
The Umzimvubu Local Municipality is recruiting a Tipper Truck Driver under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). This is a 24‑month fixed‑term position focused on waste management and municipal transport support.
Key responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery such as tipper trucks, TLB and front‑end loaders to transport, spread and compact waste at the landfill site.
- Collect and deliver refuse around town, ensuring safe disposal and maintaining hygiene standards.
- Provide transport for councilors, employees and stakeholders, and keep all municipal vehicles in good working condition.
Required profile
- Grade 10 education.
- Valid Code 14 (or Code C1) driver’s licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Machinery Operator Certificate.
- At least two years of experience operating heavy vehicles.
- Proof of residence within Umzimvubu municipality and physical fitness to work under pressure.
Required skills
- Code 14 (or Code C1) driver’s licence with PDP.
- Machinery Operator Certificate for heavy vehicle operation.
- Operation of TLB and front‑end loader bulldozers.
- Basic knowledge of waste handling and compaction procedures.
What we offer
- Stipend of R5 219 per month.
- 24‑month fixed‑term contract.
