Engineering Manager (EPCM & Mining Projects)

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams on large‑scale mining and mineral processing EPCM projects. Reporting to senior leadership, you will oversee the full engineering lifecycle from concept studies through to commissioning and handover, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with South African standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall engineering leadership across mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical and metallurgical disciplines.
• Manage engineering resources, priorities and deliverables throughout concept, feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors and external stakeholders to align technical solutions with project scope, budget and schedule.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, engineering standards and health & safety regulations.
• Control engineering budgets, monitor risks and report progress to senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in mining, EPCM or heavy industrial engineering projects.
• BEng or BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams on large capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of concept studies, pre‑feasibility, feasibility, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Professional Engineer registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport; willingness to travel to project sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with project management software such as MS Project.
• Experience with Primavera P6.
