Electrician – Permanent Position in Kgatelopele Municipality

About the role

The Kgatelopele Municipality is seeking a qualified Electrician to join its Technical, Infrastructure and Community Services department. This permanent role offers an annual remuneration of approximately R 359,891.90 and a pleasant working environment within the green Kalahari region.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and coordinate site requirements for installation, repairs, and planned maintenance of medium/low voltage electrical networks.
• Complete internal documentation such as timesheets, log sheets, and vehicle checklists to ensure accurate recording of productivity and material usage.
• Operate heavy and specialized equipment, including truck‑mounted cranes, during electrical installation and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate construction and installation of medium/low voltage networks, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain functionality of electrical reticulation systems through scheduled predictive maintenance cycles.
• Troubleshoot, fault‑find, and repair medium/low voltage systems to restore service with minimal disruption.

Required profile

• Trade‑tested Artisan qualification – NQF level 5 or 6.
• Valid EC and EB driver’s licences.
• Certification of competency in operating truck‑mounted cranes.
• Basic First Aid certification (to be completed within a specified period after appointment).
• Physically fit, able‑bodied and willing to work outside normal hours during emergencies.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
