Dispatch Supervisor

About the role

The company, a well‑established food distribution business in Montague Gardens, Cape Town, is looking for an experienced Dispatch Supervisor to lead its daily dispatch, loading and delivery operations. You will ensure that orders are prepared, loaded and delivered efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and motivate drivers and loading assistants, monitoring attendance and reporting absenteeism.
• Assist in planning daily delivery routes and loading activities.
• Verify that trip sheets, invoices and orders are accurately completed.
• Coordinate and control the loading of final orders, checking labels, batch numbers, packaging, weight and quality.
• Ensure temperature‑control requirements for perishable goods are met.
• Minimise stock damage and wastage through careful handling.
• Maintain housekeeping, hygiene and safety standards in the dispatch area.
• Train new employees on loading procedures.

Required profile

• Previous supervisory experience in dispatch, warehouse or logistics environments.
• Experience managing drivers and loading teams.
• Strong planning, administration and people‑management abilities.
• Knowledge of dispatch documentation, route planning and loading procedures.
• Experience in food distribution, perishable products or temperature‑controlled settings is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Reliable transport to Montague Gardens.
