DevOps Engineer

About the role

Altum Group is seeking a DevOps Engineer for its Cape Town office to design, build and continuously improve the platforms and delivery pipelines that support its technology ecosystem. The role focuses on reliability, automation and secure‑by‑design engineering across the Microsoft cloud stack.

Key responsibilities

• Own the operational reliability of core platforms, ensuring high availability, performance and resilience through proactive engineering.
• Implement observability solutions (monitoring, alerting, logging, dashboards) and lead incident and problem management processes.
• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, security scanning and deployment across environments.
• Standardise release processes, including versioning, approval gates, rollback strategies and deployment verification.
• Develop and maintain Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Bicep and Terraform.
• Manage environment lifecycles, secrets, certificates and platform dependencies.
• Collaborate with software, data and IT teams to embed SRE‑style practices and compliance controls.

Required profile

• Passionate about reliability, automation and secure‑by‑design engineering.
• Experienced with modern DevOps practices in the Microsoft ecosystem (Azure, Microsoft 365 and related tooling).
• Proven ability to work closely with engineering, operations and business stakeholders.
