Construction Health and Safety Manager (CHSM)

About the role

Bantubani Group, a leading provider of routine road maintenance and road construction services in South Africa, is seeking a qualified Construction Health and Safety Manager (CHSM) to join its professional register. The successful candidate will be considered for project‑specific appointments on high‑value infrastructure contracts across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain health and safety management systems on all construction sites.
• Audit health and safety files, conduct site inspections and facilitate client audits.
• Record, report and investigate accidents and incidents, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are applied.
• Develop and approve safety files, conduct inductions for subcontractors and ensure OHS compliance with the OHS Act.
• Organise emergency preparedness drills, adapt OHS documents to client requirements and identify risks.
• Carry out risk and hazard assessments, develop safe work procedures and oversee corrective actions.
• Deliver site‑related training, toolbox talks and attend monthly site and committee meetings.
• Travel regularly between multiple project sites.

Required profile

• Construction Health and Safety Officer/Manager with SACPCMP registration (section 17 of the OHS Act).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Degree, diploma or certificates in Health and Safety.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Excellent written communication skills.

• Familiarity with SAMTRAC (advantage).
