Compliance Monitoring Officer

About the role

The Compliance Monitoring Officer is responsible for monitoring and assessing the bank’s compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry standards. The role conducts legislation‑based monitoring, identifies control weaknesses and reports findings to operational and executive management.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and assess the bank’s compliance level against applicable laws and internal policies.
• Conduct legislation‑based monitoring in line with the approved Compliance Monitoring Plan.
• Identify areas of non‑compliance or control weaknesses and track remediation.
• Provide accurate, timely reports to business unit heads and executive management.
• Assist the Compliance Monitoring Manager in developing and updating policies, manuals, guidelines, risk assessments and related frameworks.

Required profile

• Degree in Compliance, Risk Management, Audit, Finance or Legal.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in compliance monitoring, advisory, risk management or internal audit.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of compliance legislation (e.g., FICA, FAIS, POPI, PAIA, NCA).
• Report writing and analytical abilities.
• Process and control evaluation expertise.
• Issue tracking and remediation oversight.
• Data‑privacy knowledge.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and compliance tracking tools.
