Clinical Nurse (Scrub Nurse) – Experienced

About the role

Netcare Akasia Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to work as a Scrub Nurse in the theatre. You will provide person‑centred, holistic nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, acting as a key member of the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care for surgical patients and their families.
• Serve as a clinical resource, supporting staff in documentation, patient advocacy and communication with families and health professionals.
• Coordinate patient care within the theatre, ensuring adherence to SOPs, standards and nursing theories.
• Initiate and manage emergency treatment (RESUS) when required across any hospital department.
• Participate in ward rounds with physicians, develop nursing care plans and maintain accurate shift documentation.
• Provide input for policy and procedure development and support unit management in resolving patient‑care issues.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (R/N) with proven experience in a theatre or surgical setting.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients, families and health professionals.
• Capability to act as a patient advocate and to respond swiftly to emergency situations.
