Clinical Nurse (R/N) – PB Qualified – 12‑Month Labour Ward Role

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (R/N) – PB Qualified position supports the Labour Ward at Netcare Femina Hospital for a 12‑month fixed‑term. You will deliver holistic, person‑centred nursing care, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and act as an advocate for patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients in the Labour Ward.
• Document care accurately and communicate patient status to families, physicians and the nursing team.
• Serve as a clinical resource, guiding staff in nursing processes and ensuring adherence to SOPs and nursing standards.
• Initiate and lead emergency treatment (RESUS) when required, following scope of practice.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop care plans, and coordinate patient services.
• Prepare shift handover documentation reflecting patient status, staffing ratios and identified issues.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a post‑basic qualification and PB (Professional Board) registration.
• Full‑time availability for a 12‑month contract.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with patients, families and health professionals.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and patient care planning.
• Resuscitation (RESUS) procedures.
• Documentation and use of nursing information systems.
