Civil Technologist - Road Infrastructure

About the role

V3 Consulting Engineers is hiring a Civil Technologist for its Transport Division in Pretoria, working on road infrastructure projects. The role reports to a Principal Engineer or Technologist and involves technical design and preparation of project documentation. It offers exposure to multidisciplinary projects, meaningful technical responsibility and long-term professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake geometric design for road infrastructure projects
• Complete drainage design in line with applicable design principles and standards
• Prepare bills of quantities and supporting cost documentation
• Compile clear, accurate technical reports
• Prepare tender documentation and project deliverables
• Collaborate with engineering professionals and multidisciplinary project teams

Required profile

• B.Eng or B.Tech in Civil Engineering
• ECSA candidate registration as a minimum requirement
• At least five years of post-graduate experience; eight to ten years suits the role well
• Demonstrated experience in national or provincial road design projects is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and people management skills, strong leadership, and ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural teams

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of geometric and drainage design principles
• Proficiency in Civil Designer (Survey, Road and Drainage modules)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of FIDIC Red Book conditions of contract and COTO standard specifications
• Experience compiling technical reports
• AutoCAD experience is advantageous
