Senior Electrical Engineer / Technologist / Technician

About the role

WSP is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer/Technologist/Technician to join its Property & Build Services team in South Africa. The role focuses on the design and delivery of high‑reliability power systems for data centre and industrial infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs from concept through detailed design and construction support, ensuring system resilience, redundancy and operational continuity.
• Perform power system studies (load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, arc‑flash) and support specification and integration of MV systems, transformers, standby generation, UPS and switchgear.
• Collaborate with global multi‑disciplinary teams, engage with clients, and provide clear technical communication throughout project phases.

Required profile

• Minimum BSc Eng. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years of consulting experience in building services or industrial environments.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech Eng) is advantageous.
• Excellent English communication skills, including technical report writing.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of IEC, SANS and BS standards for MV/LV power systems.
• Familiarity with data‑centre standards (TIA‑942 / Uptime).
• Experience with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks and eTap (or equivalent) for power studies.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
