Chassis Technician – Level II (Kathu, South Africa)

About the role

Join Cummins' Service Operations Department in Kathu as a Level II Chassis Technician. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining chassis systems for a range of equipment, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain chassis components following documented procedures.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect and re‑assemble chassis parts to detect and prevent faults.
• Perform preventative maintenance based on condition assessments to improve equipment performance and longevity.
• Collaborate with senior technicians on diagnostics and develop effective repair plans.
• Complete all required administrative documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in line with HSE standards.

Required profile

• Matric Certificate.
• Minimum N2 diesel mechanic or millwright qualification.
• Qualified trade‑tested diesel mechanic or millwright.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• At least 2 years of post‑qualification experience.

Required skills

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capability using electronic service tools.
• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (fuel, cooling, driveline, sensors).
• Ability to follow structured workflows and document work accurately.
• Attention to detail and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
