CFO and Investment Officer

About the role

The CFO and Investment Officer is a senior member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for safeguarding financial integrity and driving operational excellence across finance, IT, HR, and Legal & Compliance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and management reporting.
• Manage balance‑sheet optimization, investment property valuations, hedging, and cash management.
• Lead ESG reporting framework implementation.
• Provide strategic HR oversight ensuring compliance with South African labor legislation.
• Direct IT strategy, technology investments, cybersecurity, risk, and business continuity controls.
• Maintain the Group Risk Register and conduct annual risk workshops with the Board.
• Ensure compliance with Companies Act, FICA, POPIA, BBBEE, Consumer Protection Act, and Property Practitioners Act.
• Champion automation, predictive analytics, and digital tools to streamline workflows.

Required profile

• CA(SA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 15+ years senior financial leadership experience, preferably in asset‑heavy, multi‑site environments such as real estate, hospitality, or student accommodation.
• Proven cross‑functional leadership managing Finance together with at least two of HR, IT, or Legal at the executive level.
• Demonstrated operational finance capability across occupancy, collections, utilities, and people costs.
