Casual Cashier - Savannah Pharmacy

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for experienced casual cashiers for its Savannah store in Limpopo. You will support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience. The position is temporary.

Key responsibilities

• Record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risk.
• Transact all purchases: receive and process cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons and other accepted payment methods.
• Process loyalty cards, including those of partner accelerators such as Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards and eBucks.
• Manage cash flow, place cash in the drop safe according to SOPs, and keep all money secure in the till.
• Handle daily takings confidentially, only discussing them with management.
• Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor.
• Exchange merchandise and accept returns when authorised, and scan and pay for all outgoing stock, items and scripts.
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management, and report suspicious behaviour to management.
• Follow customer service policies, the customer turnover hourly rate, and security policies; carry out the Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• A minimum of 6 months' experience in cashier or till operations.
• Sound numerical skills and strong command of English (written and oral).
• Willing and able to work retail hours, with reliable transport and/or living close to the store.
• South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
• Knowledge of processing sales, refunds and payments.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Accuracy, attention to detail, time management, problem-solving and trustworthiness.
