CAD Draughtsperson (Fixed-term Contract)

About the role

Vegtech Netafim, part of the Orbia group and a leading supplier of controlled environment agriculture solutions in Southern Africa, is looking for a CAD Draughtsperson for its Engineering and Projects Team in Kraaifontein, Cape Town. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the draughtsperson works closely with Design Engineers to produce detailed construction, manufacturing and installation drawings for civil, structural, mechanical and hydraulic systems, ensuring drawing quality, revision control and accurate technical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
• Develop and maintain 3D models of parts and project assemblies
• Prepare construction, manufacturing, assembly and installation drawings, including fabrication drawings for greenhouse steel structures
• Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs)
• Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards and maintain drawing revision and release control
• Coordinate drawing interfaces between civil, structural, mechanical, hydraulic and irrigation systems
• Maintain drawing registers and document control records, and review drawings for completeness, accuracy and constructability
• Support engineers, prepare technical documentation for procurement and manufacturing, and liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and project teams
• Assist in resolving site drawing queries and support continuous improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Matric certificate (NQF Level 4)
• More than five years of experience in a similar draughting role
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Experience producing manufacturing and construction drawings
• Preferred: experience in greenhouse, agricultural, structural steel, construction or manufacturing industries

Required skills

• AutoCAD certification and advanced AutoCAD proficiency
• 3D modelling in Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks or similar; preferred experience with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault
• PDM systems such as Vault, Solidworks PDM or others
• Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of sheet-metal and steel-fabrication processes, BOMs, document control and quality management systems (preferred)
