Senior Planner

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries, is hiring a Senior Planner in Johannesburg. The role covers construction scheduling, bid planning and schedule control for real estate and infrastructure projects, working with clients, contractors and consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and present preliminary project schedules aligned with PROCSA and RIBA stage definitions, and produce tender and bid schedules for new business.
• Interpret RFP and tender documentation to extract scheduling and delivery requirements, and collaborate with business development, project managers and cost planning teams to align bid timelines.
• Support client interviews and presentations as the planning expert on bid teams.
• Develop and maintain baseline and working construction schedules, conduct schedule audits and integrity checks, and perform critical path and float analysis.
• Carry out progress updates, schedule performance reviews, EOT claim support through forensic delay analysis, and assist with risk analysis and what-if scenario planning.
• Prepare dashboards and reports for client presentations and attend planning and progress meetings.
• Apply industry best practices such as DCMA 14-point checks and Acumen Fuse analysis.

Required profile

• BSc degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Current planner or senior planner with 8 to 10 years of experience in consultancy, contractor or client-side roles.
• Strong understanding of PROCSA (South Africa) and RIBA (UK) stages.
• Familiarity with tendering procedures in public and developer-led projects.
• Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple concurrent bids.
