Buying Professional (Buyer) – Procurement Specialist

About the role

As a Buying Professional you will lead operational and tactical procurement activities for Siemens Energy in Waterfall City, ensuring timely, cost‑effective supply of goods and services while upholding quality, compliance and governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end purchasing process for goods and services in line with business requirements and procurement policies.
• Review purchase requests for completeness, technical accuracy and appropriate lead times.
• Identify sourcing opportunities that create value and select/evaluate suppliers according to Siemens Energy Supplier Selection Guidelines.
• Develop and execute RFQs using SAP Ariba and Siemens Energy Exchange, coordinating cross‑functional evaluations.
• Prepare procurement evaluation reports and present recommendations to stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including foreign‑exchange exposure and contractual risks.
• Create and manage Purchase Orders within SAP, conduct supplier negotiations and optimise pricing and commercial terms.
• Monitor supplier performance, contract execution, delivery schedules and resolve issues.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships through regular engagement and visits.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with governance, ethical standards and B‑BBEE requirements.
• Support supplier development initiatives and drive digitalisation to improve efficiency.
• Track procurement KPIs and continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimisation.

Required profile

• Diploma in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
• CIPS certification is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years procurement experience, preferably in engineering, industrial services, manufacturing or project‑based environments.
• Proven experience managing operational and tactical purchasing activities.
• Experience in supplier management, sourcing and qualification processes.
