Senior Buyer

About the role

The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end procurement process for project purchase orders, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and accurate cost forecasting. The role supports the Project Procurement and Contracts Manager and works closely with engineering, project management and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Compile, evaluate and administer purchase orders, including risk assessment, dispute resolution and final close‑out.
• Forecast cost at completion (FAC) for purchase orders on a monthly basis.
• Convert material requisitions into tender packages, receive and register tenders, and conduct commercial analysis.
• Negotiate with suppliers, review commercial terms, and ensure payment terms align with project objectives.
• Enter commitments into the Supply Chain control system and monitor supplier acceptance.
• Process vendor invoices, raise back‑charge and penalty notifications, and coordinate claims against project insurance.
• Assist in preparing monthly project progress reports and maintaining the supplier database.

Required profile

• High school education with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience in procurement within the mineral processing or industrial sector.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks and act on own initiative.
• High level of numeracy, computer literacy and commercial understanding.
• Good negotiating, interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with vendors and internal teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with complex computer software packages and Supply Chain control systems.
• Numerical estimation and measurement calculations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
