Business Systems Administrator – Server & Network Management

About the role

The Business Systems Administrator will proactively manage and maintain the organisation's servers, operating systems, hardware and networking equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role supports both internal users and external clients, delivering high‑quality IT services in line with service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce server usage policies and standards.
• Build, operate, maintain and troubleshoot server infrastructure, adhering to security and SLA requirements.
• Perform regular database clean‑ups and monitor system logs for errors.
• Plan and document new server deployments, install server‑side software, and manage system resources such as disks and memory.
• Administer Active Directory, create and manage user accounts, and provide 3rd‑level support for IT requests.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate and test new hardware and software for client/server applications.
• Monitor and maintain MS Exchange, resolve hardware/software issues, and execute change‑management requests.
• Provide expert advice to clients and stakeholders, building strong relationships and ensuring client expectations are met.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant IT qualification.
• 1–2 years of relevant IT experience.
• 1–3 years of computer operator or support experience.
• Knowledge of client/server computing environments and server operating systems.
• Understanding of performance analysis and tuning.
