Business Health & Safety Administrator

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is looking for a Business Health & Safety Administrator for its Natural Resources business line in Sandton. The role ensures that H&S administration, legal compliance, client requirements and the H&S management system are well established and maintained, and works closely with the Business H&S Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Take full control of the Natural Resources H&S document control system (registering, formatting, distributing and controlling documents).
• Log near-misses and incidents into Crystal and report site KPIs to Global accurately.
• Monitor site-specific TIER KPIs and Business H&S Top Page objectives, and give monthly feedback.
• Coordinate dosimeter collection and hand-out, and assist locations with queries on H&S systems such as Stellar, Crystal and Chemwatch.
• Conduct H&S training aligned with HSMS and local regulations, and visit sites to train H&S resources face-to-face.
• Act as the Business H&S Communication Officer, following the communication plan, and order and maintain stock of H&S materials, clothing and stationery.
• Run the Reward & Recognition programme, run campaigns, and assist auditors with audit reports and NCRs on the Crystal module.
• Implement SGS-wide H&S activities (Stellar, Safety Month, quarterly campaigns, Stop Work Authority, BBS, etc.) and initiate formal improvement requests when deviations occur.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12)
• 2 years of administrative experience
• Broad knowledge of applicable legislation (OHS Act, Mine Act) and knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
• Good communication skills, computer literate, and a team player
