Bursar & Management Accountant – Campus Finance Lead

About the role

A leading private‑education organisation is seeking a commercially minded Bursar to own the full finance function at campus level. The role goes beyond traditional finance administration, acting as the financial business partner to campus leadership and supporting strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary finance business partner to campus leadership, participating in management meetings and providing financial insights.
• Drive and manage the annual OPEX and CAPEX budgeting process, monitor expenditure, and investigate variances.
• Oversee accurate billing, month‑end reporting, reconciliations, journals and financial schedules.
• Manage procurement, accounts payable and ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls.
• Support financial audits, train staff on policies, and maintain debtors, collections and payment follow‑ups.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification (essential) with 7–10 years of finance‑focused experience.
• Strong experience in management accounts, budgeting, financial reporting and OPEX/CAPEX management.
• Exposure to billing, reconciliations, debtors/creditors and month‑end processes within a structured corporate, group or education environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail, highly organised and able to communicate financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Analytical, proactive and solutions‑driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with financial reporting systems and general accounting software.
