Banqueting Waitron – Hotel Food & Beverage Service

About the role

The Banqueting Waitron provides high‑quality food and beverage service for banquet events at our hotel in Umhlanga Ridge, Durban. You will ensure guests receive a seamless experience from coffee breaks to full‑service buffets, adhering to the Banquet Event Order and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare coffee breaks, carts, and stations with the correct food and beverages as outlined in the Banquet Event Order.
• Set up tables, action stations, buffets, dessert and cordial carts, and maintain their presentation throughout the event.
• Communicate special dietary requirements, allergies, and guest requests to the kitchen.
• Clear courses, crumb tables, and replenish buffet items to keep presentation fresh.
• Monitor tableware cleanliness and ensure all service areas remain sanitary and organized.
• Bus tables, separating and handling tableware, plateware, glassware, and flatware.
• Follow all company safety, security, and uniform policies, reporting any incidents promptly.
• Welcome guests, anticipate their needs, and provide courteous, professional service.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year related experience in banquet or food‑service environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb unaided (75 lb with assistance).
• Capability to navigate uneven or slippery surfaces, stairs, and service ramps safely.
• Strong attention to detail, especially when reading small print and handling guest requests.
