Assembler - Metal Components

About the role

Sandvik's Rock Processing unit, which supplies equipment, tools, parts and solutions for rock and mineral processing in mining and construction, is looking for an Assembler. The role reports to the Assembly Manager and is based in the offices in Spartan, Kempton Park. You will assemble machine components according to the instructions of the team leader, foreman and assembly manager.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out tasks given by the Team Leader to the required standard and finish them within the allowed hours per job
• Check the suitability and quality of materials during assembly and the quality of finished work before handover
• Communicate work-related issues clearly to team members and the Team Leader
• Care for all issued equipment, including electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic tools, and keep them well maintained
• Keep the work area clean, neat and free of safety hazards, and maintain good housekeeping
• Advise and coach co-workers on technical topics and give a positive, can-do approach to management
• Follow health and safety requirements, including the use of PPE, safe work practices and risk assessments, and report accidents, injuries and near misses immediately

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate
• 3-5 years of experience assembling manufactured metal components in a metal industry operation
• Ability to read, write and interpret instructions correctly
• Basic understanding of vibrating equipment
• Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, accuracy and honesty
• Ability to work under pressure, follow instructions and engage in repetitive work
