Artisan Assistant – Maintenance Support

About the role

The Artisan Assistant provides hands‑on support to skilled artisans in a manufacturing plant, helping to keep machinery and equipment running smoothly. This entry‑level position is ideal for candidates with a high‑school education who are eager to develop technical skills in a dynamic, shift‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist artisans with daily tasks such as inspecting machinery and equipment.
• Perform minor assembly of parts and equipment under supervision.
• Clean machinery, equipment, and designated engineering areas as directed.
• Work safely from ladders and scaffolds when required.
• Report safety hazards promptly.
• Carry out ad‑hoc duties assigned by the artisan.
• Maintain personal health and safety at work.
• Participate in MECP and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Create and close job cards in the maintenance management system (DMS).
• Perform basic building maintenance tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Electrical or mechanical background is an advantage.
• Technically oriented and willing to work overtime and shifts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team‑player attitude.
• Problem‑solving and fault‑finding abilities.
• Good prioritising and planning capability.
• Willingness to be trained on the job.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance management systems (DMS) and computer literacy are advantageous.
