About the role
The incumbent will act as the liaison between patients and medical aid providers to secure payment for the hospital. This role involves managing admissions for both casualty and in‑patient services at the main reception.
Key responsibilities
- Process admissions for casualty at Trauma and in‑patients, ensuring all required documents (doctor’s note, ID, medical aid card) are collected and copied.
- Obtain and confirm authorisations with medical aids, enter ICD codes into the system, and ensure daily accuracy of admission forms.
- Print patient labels and admission forms for wards, bill medication for private casualty patients, and discharge patients while billing accommodation.
- Collect and correctly post payments (deposits/general) and assist patients with completing required forms.
Required profile
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Previous administrative experience in a medical environment (advantageous).
- Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
- Flexibility to work varying hours or shifts.
