Accounting Clerk – Salary Administration

About the role

The Western Cape Government Department of Social Development is seeking an Accounting Clerk for Salary Administration. This permanent position is based in Cape Town CBD and is suitable for candidates with a Grade 12 qualification who are interested in financial administration within the public sector.

Key responsibilities

• Administer petty cash and support banking and cash management activities.
• Perform bookkeeping and provide system support for financial transactions.
• Process financial accounting entries and assist with salary administration.
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all routine tasks.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate or equivalent.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Computer and office equipment proficiency.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Required skills

• Computer and office equipment skills.
• Knowledge of financial administration.
• Familiarity with PERSAL, BAS or LOGIS systems.
• Understanding of public service financial legislation and Treasury regulations.
