Accountant – Financial Reporting & Tax Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑driven Accountant to join a respected financial services organisation in Pretoria. The role focuses on maintaining accurate accounting records, ensuring compliance, and delivering timely financial reporting in a high‑performance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and review accounting records for accuracy and completeness.
• Review procurement processes and supplier documentation to ensure policy compliance.
• Monitor supplier payment terms and process payments promptly.
• Perform cash book, bank, supplier, and fixed‑asset reconciliations.
• Prepare and review journal entries, including complex transactions.
• Compile balance‑sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Ensure intercompany transaction accuracy.
• Prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts and related reports.
• Assist with revenue calculations and system‑generated figures.
• Support cash‑flow management and financial soundness calculations.
• Prepare VAT reconciliations, tax computations and ensure tax compliance.
• Assist with audit processes and annual financial statement preparation.
• Participate in strategic initiatives, reporting improvements and special projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting (BCom/BCompt preferred) with completed articles or 3‑5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and tax regulations.
• Experience with reconciliations, management accounts and audit support.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver accurate results.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAGE X3 accounting system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
