Accountant – CA(SA)

About the role

Hungry Lion is seeking a qualified CA(SA) to manage and deliver accurate financial information across its multi‑country operations. The accountant will ensure timely tax compliance, financial reporting, and analytical support to drive cost optimisation and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with transfer pricing policy research and implementation.
• Prepare and submit withholding tax and income tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, including provisional tax.
• Perform tax compliance checks, investigations and reconcile taxes with revenue authority statements.
• Reconcile payroll, bank accounts, fixed‑asset register and inter‑company balances, including foreign‑exchange adjustments.
• Support monthly VAT submissions and reasonability checks.
• Calculate stock valuations and cost of sales to ensure accurate gross‑profit reporting.
• Prepare cash‑flow statements, variance analysis and management reports.
• Provide analytical financial reporting and recommendations for cost improvements.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent Excel proficiency.
• Interest in developing tax expertise across multiple African markets.
