Finance Manager – Financial Services (Cape Town)

About the role

An established financial services business in Cape Town is seeking a technically strong, hands‑on Finance Manager. The role offers end‑to‑end responsibility for financial reporting, regulatory compliance, tax, audit and process improvement across two licensed entities.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end and year‑end close processes for both entities.
• Prepare and present monthly management accounts, budgets and executive financial reports.
• Compile IFRS‑compliant annual financial statements and manage the annual audit.
• Liaise with external/internal auditors, actuaries and regulators.
• Oversee regulatory submissions to the Prudential Authority, FSCA and SARB.
• Monitor capital adequacy, liquidity and solvency requirements.
• Review VAT, provisional and annual income tax calculations and supervise tax submissions.
• Maintain strong financial controls through transaction, journal and reconciliation reviews.
• Manage relationship with outsourced administrator, including reporting quality and fee reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve processes and increase automation.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualified with at least 3 years post‑articles experience.
• Strong technical accounting and IFRS reporting knowledge.
• Financial services experience preferred; audit experience with insurers is a plus.
• Good understanding of South African tax compliance.
• Ability to work independently, meet competing deadlines and engage senior stakeholders.
