Architect Technologist – Commercial Healthcare Design

About the role

The Architect Technologist will design and develop cost‑effective concept layouts for Mediclinic facilities, ensuring compliance with operational, regulatory and Mediclinic standards. The role also focuses on improving existing design processes and supporting the nursing operational workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Perform concept planning and detailed development within the Architectural Design Team.
• Ensure implementation of architectural design principles across projects.
• Manage workflow of multiple projects simultaneously.
• Continuously improve facilities and processes within the team.
• Handle administration and record‑keeping duties.
• Assist with commissioning of designed facilities.
• Maintain stakeholder and client relationships.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Architectural Technology (3 years).
• 3–5 years experience in Architectural Technology within commercial architecture (essential).
• 5–7 years experience in the same field is desirable.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Understanding of construction processes.
• Knowledge of architectural design principles (SANS 10400 / NBR).
• AutoCAD (Caddie) competency.
• Healthcare design expertise.
• SketchUp proficiency.
• Familiarity with PN 187 / R158 standards.
