Utility II Operator

About the role

The Utility II Operator is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment to ensure consistent product quality and production rates. This role works on the shop floor in a manufacturing environment, following supplier manuals and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and maintain machines according to supplier operating manuals.
• Operate machines safely and in line with specifications.
• Prepare incident reports and complete job cards before maintenance work.
• Maintain extraction and cooling systems in working condition.
• Complete production logs, attribute charts and SPC data.
• Monitor equipment performance to ensure correct quality output at the required production rate.
• Report risks or concerns to management and promote regulatory compliance.
• Monitor costs and expenditure related to machine operation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Trade‑tested artisan.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment.
• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of relevant maintenance practices, designs, methodologies and SOPs.
• Understanding of housekeeping and safety principles.
