Trade Pharmacy Representative – Johannesburg North

About the role

Abbott is seeking a Trade Pharmacy Representative to drive sales of its branded generic medicines in the northern Johannesburg area. You will work from the Roodepoort office and visit pharmacies to promote a portfolio covering gastro‑enterology, women’s health, cardiometabolic, pain management and respiratory therapies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute a sales strategy to meet targets in the assigned territory.
• Maintain regular customer call rates, strike rates and full territory coverage.
• Prepare and update the regional sales operating plan.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities and attend relevant meetings and conferences.
• Negotiate display space and build impactful in‑store merchandising.
• Manage stock levels using pharmacy stock cards and apply FIFO principles.
• Train and detail pharmacy staff, including all healthcare professionals.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Human Sciences, Marketing or Business Management (preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of pharmacy sales experience with established pharmacy relationships.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Proven sales track record and strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Experience covering the Johannesburg area is an advantage.
• Positive, self‑motivated attitude with integrity, initiative and adaptability.
