Sourcing Merchandiser – Fashion (Cape Town)

About the role

A leading fashion retailer is looking for an experienced Sourcing Merchandiser to join its fast‑paced Sourcing Division in Cape Town. The role requires strong manufacturing and imports merchandising expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Source finished goods efficiently while meeting cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and suppliers.
• Ensure workmanship standards and propose fabric or construction alternatives when needed.
• Manage critical paths to meet deadlines.
• Maintain accurate briefs and keep PLM systems up‑to‑date.
• Drive portfolio growth through strong trading and negotiation skills.
• Support styling changes in collaboration with buyers and suppliers.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Proven experience working directly with overseas suppliers.
• Strong negotiation, administrative and written communication abilities.
• Previous experience managing a Sourcing Assistant.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Willingness to travel.
