About the role
The Senior Tourism Officer will align tourism outcomes with the broader strategic aims of eThekwini, coordinate and implement tourism projects and events, and promote the region as a preferred destination for visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Align outcomes to strategic aims, execute key performance areas and contribute to tourism initiatives.
- Coordinate and implement tourism projects and events within budget and timelines.
- Promote and position the region, managing applications and processes that showcase Durban as a preferred tourist destination.
- Formulate and execute distribution plans for promotional material and handle related logistics.
- Maintain information updates, reports, correspondence and record‑keeping procedures.
- Register service providers and manage the tourism database.
Required profile
- Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Tourism.
- Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience (4 years preferred).
- Computer literacy.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the region and work after hours or weekends as needed.
