Senior Bookkeeper – Full-time, On-site in Robertsham

About the role

Our client, a growing SME in Robertsham, Johannesburg, is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to act as the right‑hand to the General Manager and Financial Manager. The role combines senior bookkeeping, trial‑balance preparation, end‑to‑end payroll and HR administration in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete financial records through to trial balance, perform month‑end reconciliations and manage balance‑sheet accounts.
• Process monthly payroll, calculate PAYE, UIF and SDL, submit SARS returns and oversee leave administration and personnel records.
• Provide operational support to the Financial Lead and General Manager and act as backup for debtors and creditors during peak periods.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Bookkeeper or Accountant within an SME.
• Hands‑on competence in both senior accounting and full payroll/HR administration.
• Solid knowledge of Sage Evolution and Sage/Pastel Payroll systems.
• National Diploma, Higher Certificate or Degree in Accounting/Financial Management (or ICBA equivalent, NQF 5/6+).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across all business levels.
• Resides within 30 km of Robertsham and has reliable personal transport.
