LHD Operator (Underground Mining)

About the role

The LHD Operator will work in an underground trackless mining environment, safely handling Load‑Haul‑Dump machines to move ore or waste material. The role supports daily production targets while adhering to strict health, safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate LHD equipment safely and efficiently in underground tunnels.
• Conduct daily pre‑start inspections and report any defects.
• Load, haul and dump ore or waste according to production plans.
• Maintain compliance with mine health and safety regulations and company SOPs.
• Perform housekeeping duties in the assigned work area.
• Communicate production and safety information to supervisors and team members.
• Report hazards, incidents and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Contribute to achieving daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
• Valid OEM LHD Operator Certificate.
• 2‑5 years experience in underground trackless mining, with at least 2 years operating an LHD.
• Medically fit for mine entry and able to obtain a clear criminal background check.
• Physically fit to work in underground conditions and willing to relocate if not locally based.
• Ability to work shifts, overtime and weekends as required.
