About the role

This position is ideal for a seasoned Industrial Relations professional with deep labour‑relations experience and strong exposure to the CCMA. The role operates independently in a fast‑paced industrial environment, ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation and supporting the organisation’s people strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent the company at conciliations, arbitrations and dispute resolution forums such as the CCMA and MEBIC.
  • Handle unfair dismissal and unfair labour practice disputes, investigate labour issues and ensure legislative compliance.
  • Conduct IR risk assessments, advise management, and provide monthly IR reports.
  • Train managers on disciplinary, grievance, performance and incapacity procedures.
  • Chair disciplinary hearings, manage formal and informal grievances, and oversee recruitment and selection processes.
  • Draft appointment and termination letters, respond to employee queries on salaries, benefits and employment matters.
  • Investigate absenteeism, verify sick notes, manage performance appraisals and oversee Employment Equity, Skills Development and EAP programmes.
  • Control manpower against approved structures and assist with wage‑bill management.
  • Maintain compliance with labour legislation, ISO standards and health, safety and environmental requirements.

Required profile

  • Qualification in Labour Law and a Certificate in Dispute Resolution Practice.
  • Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation.
  • Proven experience representing organisations at the CCMA and other dispute‑resolution bodies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to chair disciplinary hearings and manage grievances effectively.
  • HR generalist experience is advantageous.
