Health and Safety Officer – SACPCMP (Cape Town)

About the role

The Health and Safety Officer ensures compliance with health and safety legislation, company standards and client requirements across projects, workshops and offices. The role focuses on risk management, inspections and incident control to maintain a safe working environment and promote a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and monitor health and safety systems in line with legislation, construction regulations and company standards.
• Prepare and maintain project and workshop safety files, ensuring all documentation is audit‑ready, current and compliant.
• Maintain records, SHEQ registers and reporting systems.
• Control, issue and manage personal protective equipment (PPE) based on risk assessments and company standards.
• Coordinate and facilitate safety training, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns.

Required profile

• Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• Recognised safety qualification such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ experience in construction, mechanical, industrial or refrigeration environments.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites.
• SACPCMP registration (absolute requirement).
