Head of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)

About the role

The Head of Public‑Private Partnerships will lead the transition of the firm from a contractor to a project developer and equity participant, securing long‑term infrastructure concessions across energy, transport and water sectors in Southern Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and launch the PPP division, defining its structure and integrating workflows with tendering and business development teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with banks, development finance institutions, investors and government agencies; represent the firm at PPP forums and roadshows.
• Lead deal structuring including financial modelling, SPV formation, shareholder agreements and risk allocation strategies.
• Identify and develop a pipeline of PPP opportunities, monitor regulatory frameworks and originate unsolicited proposals.
• Negotiate concession agreements, power purchase agreements and government‑lender interfaces to ensure project bankability.
• Oversee bid performance, ensuring strong success rates in RFQ and RFP stages.

Required profile

• B.Com in Finance, B.Sc in Economics or B.Eng with a focus on Project Finance.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CFA or MBA from a top‑tier business school (mandatory).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in infrastructure finance, investment banking or PPP project development.
• Proven track record of achieving financial close on at least three PPP or IPP projects valued above $750 M USD.
• Strong exposure to Southern African financial institutions and government agencies.
