Structural Designer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Structural Designer to join our Johannesburg office within the Project Delivery Group. You will create concrete and structural steel 3D models and 2D drawings for projects ranging from concept to construction, collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Produce 3D models and 2D drawings according to project requirements and senior design direction.
• Perform conceptual layout work and develop detailed design elements.
• Check drawings and models before release and ensure coordination across disciplines.
• Conduct clash detection between structural and other discipline models.
• Prepare design concepts for internal and client review in partnership with engineering staff.
• Generate detailed engineering documentation for approved concepts.
• Participate in formal engineering review processes.
• Verify onsite conditions and dimensions of existing facilities.

Required profile

• Engineering diploma (N Dip) or equivalent drafting qualification in civil/structural engineering.
• Experience with reinforced concrete and/or structural steel 3D modelling and drafting.
• Background in a multidisciplinary EPCM environment.
• Ability to model in a 3D environment and work on heavy industrial structures and foundations.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and codes.
• Understanding of requirements from other engineering disciplines.
