Electrical Internship – Energy Efficiency Programme

About the role

The Bela-Bela Local Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Energy and Electricity, is offering a two-month electrical internship focused on energy efficiency and demand‑side management. The position is designed for recent graduates with a background in electrical engineering or related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Support the management of the energy efficiency project database, including cataloguing projects from concept to feasibility.
• Assist with data gathering and analysis for priority energy efficiency projects.
• Contribute to the Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management (EEDSM) programme, including project monitoring.
• Prepare briefing reports on energy efficiency topics.
• Coordinate logistics for events and workshops.
• Perform additional tasks as required.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus an Engineering Diploma (S4) or National Certificate (N6) in electricity, energy or built environment.
• Valid South African ID and willingness to sign an internship agreement.
• Basic computer literacy with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

What we offer
