Electrical Intern – Energy Efficiency Graduate Programme

About the role

The Bela-Bela Local Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Energy and Electricity, is offering a three‑month internship for qualified unemployed graduates. Interns will support the Energy Efficiency Demand Side Programme by assisting with project databases, data analysis and programme coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and update the energy‑efficiency project database, cataloguing projects from concept to feasibility.
• Gather and analyse data for priority energy‑efficiency projects.
• Support the Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management (EEDSM) programme, including project monitoring.
• Prepare briefing reports on energy‑efficiency initiatives.
• Coordinate logistics for events and workshops.
• Conduct and support additional activities as required.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus an Engineering Diploma (S4) or National Certificate in electricity, energy or the built environment.
• Valid South African ID and willingness to sign an internship/graduate programme agreement.
• Project Management Certificate (advantageous).
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Understanding of energy‑efficiency technologies, building systems, public lighting and water‑treatment operations.

What we offer

• Stipend of R 5 000 per month.
