About the role
The Claims Department is seeking a Commercial Claims Consultant to join our team in Centurion. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients and brokers, ensuring claims are captured, validated and settled efficiently while delivering exceptional service.
Key responsibilities
- Capture all new commercial claims and register them with insurers where applicable.
- Serve as the single point of contact for clients/brokers, aiming for first‑call resolution.
- Verify FNOL data and supporting documentation to ensure accurate settlements.
- Validate and take initial actions on claims within one working hour of registration.
- Maintain accurate diaries, messages and claim records in the operating system.
- Interpret policy wordings, assess coverage and advise brokers or policyholders.
- Identify potential non‑disclosure, misrepresentation or fraud and follow insurer procedures.
- Escalate complex or high‑value claims to specialists or management as required.
- Negotiate settlements within agreed mandate limits and manage third‑party recoveries.
- Utilise preferred service suppliers and external experts in line with BBEEE targets.
Required profile
- Experience in commercial claims handling within the insurance sector.
- Strong knowledge of policy wording, coverage assessment and claim validation processes.
- Ability to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and turnaround times (TAT).
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, brokers and internal teams.
