Chief Operating Officer – Hospitality and Tourism

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer – Hospitality and Tourism is accountable for the operational leadership, performance and reputational stewardship of the company's hospitality and tourism portfolio, including owned and managed hotels and lodges. The role drives operational excellence, guest experience standards, project delivery for new openings and refurbishments, and commercial performance across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day operational oversight of all hospitality and tourism properties across NAM and PAM, ensuring consistent service, brand and quality standards, and maintain on‑site and remote coverage with documented handover protocols.
• Lead and support General Managers and on‑site leadership teams, handling performance management, induction of new appointees, succession and handover planning, and act as escalation point for operational and conduct matters.
• Oversee capital and refurbishment projects, coordinating engineers, contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver on time, on budget and to specification, and lead pre‑opening and stabilisation phases including operational readiness, staffing and systems implementation.
• Own portfolio‑level commercial performance, managing budgets, cost control and revenue optimisation in coordination with Finance, ensure compliance with South African and Botswana legislation, licensing, health and safety, and manage relationships with third‑party operators, consultants and contractors in line with Group governance.
