About the role
The Mzansi Chess Academy is looking for a dedicated Chess Coach to lead and inspire young players across its Johannesburg and Tshwane locations. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality coaching sessions that develop strategic thinking, discipline and confidence in students of all ages.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and conduct individual and group chess lessons for beginners to advanced players.
- Mentor students, monitor progress and provide feedback to help them improve their rating.
- Organise tournaments, practice matches and extracurricular chess activities.
- Collaborate with other coaches to develop curriculum aligned with the academy’s educational goals.
Required profile
- At least 3 years of experience coaching chess.
- Chess SA or FIDE rating of 1800 +.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Passion for mentoring youth and promoting the growth of chess in South Africa.
